Psychology in Barcelona

The psychology clinic is a space to talk about what is worrying you and learn how to manage it. You will be seen by Silvia Rodríguez Díez, a general health psychologist, who listens without judging and works with you at your own pace so that you can feel calmer in your daily life.

Silvia works alongside the other specialties in the center when physical and emotional health go hand in hand: pain that will not go away, a weight problem, diabetes, the menopause or a diagnosis that is hard to come to terms with.

What we treat

Anxiety and stress

Constant worry, nerves, trouble sleeping, tension in your body or the feeling of not being able to keep up. If stress or anxiety stops you enjoying life or holds you back, together we work out what is causing it and find tools to manage it.

Low mood

Sadness that will not lift, lack of motivation, tiredness, wanting to shut yourself away or feeling that nothing excites you any more. When this lasts for weeks or affects your work and relationships, it is worth asking for help. We work with you so that you feel able to cope again.

Support after a difficult diagnosis

Hearing that you have a long-term illness, cancer or a lengthy treatment stirs up a lot of emotions, in you and in those around you. We support you so that you can take it in, make decisions more calmly and adapt to the changes, in coordination with the rest of the medical team.

Frequently asked questions

When to see a psychologist

The most common reasons for a visit, explained in the words of the people who come to see us.

I'm going through a period of anxiety or stress

Anxiety and stress are normal responses to difficult times, but when they last or are very intense they can affect your sleep, work and relationships. It's worth asking for help if you've felt like this for weeks or find it hard to get on with daily life. At Gineclinic our psychologist gives you space to express yourself and understand what is happening, and helps you find tools to manage it day to day. If the anxiety is linked to a gynecological problem, she works with the gynecology team.

I've been feeling low for a while

Everyone has sad days, but if sadness, lack of energy or loss of interest in things last for weeks, it may be a sign of depression, and it can be treated. If you've felt like this for weeks or find everyday tasks hard, see a specialist; if you have thoughts of harming yourself, call 112 for urgent help. At Gineclinic the psychologist assesses your situation and supports you in your recovery.

Menopause is affecting my mood

During menopause, hormonal changes can come with irritability, insomnia, anxiety or sadness, and this is more common than it seems. If these changes affect your work, relationships or sleep, book a consultation. At Gineclinic psychology and gynecology work together: the psychologist supports you and the gynecology team assesses whether hormonal symptoms play a part and what treatment options there are.

I'm finding it hard to adjust to motherhood

Tiredness, guilt or sadness after giving birth are common and normal, and can be helped. Get support if they last for weeks or if you find it hard to lead a normal life. At Gineclinic the psychologist supports you through this stage.

I've received a difficult diagnosis

Receiving a diagnosis of cancer, endometriosis or a chronic illness is a hard blow and difficult to come to terms with, and feeling fear, anger or sadness is normal. Psychological support helps if you are finding it hard to accept, to sleep, or to understand and manage your emotions throughout the process, or whenever you need it. At Gineclinic our psychologist supports you and, if you wish, your family and those close to you, working with the specialist at the center who manages your case.

I'm stressed because of work

Work stress is very common and, when it goes on, it can affect your sleep, your mood and your relationships. It's worth asking for help if you've felt overwhelmed for weeks or if work doesn't let you switch off. At Gineclinic you are seen by the psychologist, who helps you understand what's going on and find tools to manage it.

I'm finding it hard to adjust to fatherhood

Becoming a father changes your sleep, your relationship and the way your days are organized, and feeling tired, irritable or overwhelmed is more common than it seems. Get support if you've felt like this for weeks or if you find it hard to lead a normal life. At Gineclinic you are seen by the psychologist, who supports you through this stage.
