Pelvic floor physiotherapy in Barcelona
Pelvic floor physiotherapy treats the muscles that support the bladder, bowel and sexual organs. You will be seen by Mailyn Solarte Muñoz, a pelvic floor physiotherapist. For women, it helps with bladder leaks, recovery after childbirth and pain during sex. For men, it helps with bladder leaks and long-term pelvic pain.
These are common problems that people find hard to talk about, and you do not have to just live with them. Mailyn works alongside gynecology, psychology and the other specialties in the center when your case needs it.

Frequently asked questions
When to see a pelvic floor physiotherapist
The most common reasons for a visit, explained in the words of the people who come to see us.
I leak urine
Leaking urine when you cough, laugh or exercise is very common, especially after childbirth and during menopause, but it is not normal and it can be treated. Get checked if it happens often or makes you change your habits. At Gineclinic you are seen by the pelvic floor physiotherapist: she assesses your pelvic floor and gives you exercises to strengthen it, one of the first-choice treatments. If needed, the gynecology team at the same center also assesses it.
I've had a baby and want to recover
After the birth, we assess your pelvic floor and abdomen and guide your recovery, at your own pace.
I feel heaviness or a bulge in my vagina
A feeling of heaviness or a bulge in the vagina is usually a prolapse: one of the pelvic organs has dropped because the pelvic floor has weakened. It is common after childbirth or during menopause and is generally not serious, but it is worth treating. Get checked when you notice it, especially if it is getting worse. At Gineclinic pelvic floor physiotherapy, which helps improve symptoms and stop it progressing, works together with the gynecology team, who carry out the examination.
Sex is painful
Pain during sex isn't normal and can often be treated. We assess it and, if there is tension in the pelvic floor, we treat it.
My stomach muscles have separated after the birth
This is abdominal diastasis. With guided exercises the gap can be reduced and your core strength recovered.
