Breast checks and breast conditions in men
Men have breast tissue too and can have breast problems: a lump, enlargement of one or both breasts, pain or nipple discharge. Most of the time the cause is benign, but it is worth getting it checked rather than letting it go.
At Gineclinic you will be seen by Dr Xavier Marquès and Dr Inés Torras, from the gynecology team, who assess the breast with an examination and ultrasound. If a mammogram is needed, it is done at a specialist center, and afterwards we explain the results and the next steps.

When to see us
I've noticed a lump or swelling in my chest
In men, a swollen chest is usually gynecomastia, a benign enlargement of breast tissue that can have a hormonal cause or be due to a medication. Breast cancer in men is uncommon, but it does occur. Get checked without waiting if you notice a hard lump, changes in the skin or nipple, or discharge. At Gineclinic you are seen by the gynecology team, which treats breast conditions: we examine you and, if needed, arrange imaging tests. If there is a hormonal cause, the center's endocrinologist is involved too.
